This isn't just a stay. It's our story

✦ We spent most of our lives in Delhi. Like many others, we were chasing that ever-moving target—jobs, bills, responsibilities, the fast life. But our hearts? They were never really there.

✦ We grew up in the mountains. The village of Dewaldhar was our childhood, our roots, our peace. And every time we came back here, it felt like we could finally breathe again.

It was quiet—not empty, just still. The kind of silence that speaks to you. If you’ve ever heard it, you know exactly what we mean.

Even while working in the city, we had a crazy dream that never really left us. We’d talk about it at night, over tea, in traffic, in between long shifts.

“One day, we’ll build a little place in the mountains,” we’d say. A place that felt like home—not just to us, but to anyone who walked in.

✦ I worked in hospitality—served in some of the finest hotels. Learned how the big chains operate, how service can be polished to perfection... but often lacked soul.

✦ My wife held everything else together. She’s always been the heart of our family. She wanted to open her doors and feed people from the same kitchen where she fed us all these years—with that warmth only a mother can give.

✦ Truth? We couldn’t really afford it. Not in the “Excel sheet” way. But some dreams don’t care about bank balances.

We gave up a lot. Pulled savings, took risks, made tough calls. Faced delays, doubts, setbacks. There were nights we thought—maybe we’re in too deep.

But then morning came, and the mountains reminded us why we started.

It took time. A lot of it. But finally...

✦ You’ve probably never heard of Devaldhaar. And that’s okay. It’s not one of those popular hill stations with busy markets, commercial spots or taxi drivers chasing you with tour plans.

✦ There’s no mall road here. No nightlife. But there's life — the slow kind. You sleep early. Wake with the sun. You read, go for a walk, talk to people, maybe sit in silence for a while and just watch the mountains.

✦ Dewaldhar is a quiet little village, high up in the Garhwal hills. Far from traffic. Far from noise. It’s our home. Here, people don’t try to sell you anything. They’ll offer you a cup of chai and maybe a story or two — old tales about the land and the gods.

✦ So, if you're coming by private vehicle, it's pretty straightforward — just plug in "The Jade Inn, Dewaldhar" and follow the hills. It's a beautiful drive, especially that last stretch.

✦ If you're traveling by public transport, you can catch an overnight bus from Kashmere Gate (Delhi) or from Rishikesh/Dehradun to Gopeshwar. From there, just hop into a shared taxi for a short ride to Dewaldhar — they're regular and reasonably priced.

✦ And hey — if you're on your way to Chopta, Tungnath, Rudranath, Kedarnath, Auli, or Ukhimath...you better make a quick stop for a chai. Or better yet, stay the night.
